There is guilty pleasure or trophy collecting syndrome among photographers. We like to have images of iconic places even though they are done to death. Guilty as charged.
However it does not have to be "been there done what others have done". Careful planning and bit of luck combined may mean you have your unique iconic shot. The one above was made from a balcony of 'Gateway suite' which was opened to me by a very friendly hotel manager. I was roaming inside the Taj Mahal Palace, an experience in itself, and asked a staff if there is any balcony from which I can have clearer view of The Gateway of India. And he pointed me to his manager who was kind enough to let me into the suit.
